SongLives

Friday, December 5 | 8 pm
Mary Coughlan

SongLives showcases Ireland's greatest contemporary songwriters, bringing the rich tradition of busking on Dublin’s Grafton Street to New York City. Each performance concludes with a wonderful and rare one-off collaboration between the artists fueled by improvisation, experimentation and innovation.

Curated by Grammy Award-winner Susan McKeown

Throughout her 25 year extraordinary recording career—which includes hits “Invisible To You,” and “The Double Cross”—singer Mary Coughlan from County Galway, has drawn heavily from her legendary heroes—Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee, Van Morrison, and Edith Piaf. She crosses seamlessly from jazz to blues to folk and back again with a smoky, bluesy drawl that surprises and seduces.

Coughlan will be accompanied by Justin Carroll on keyboard and Dan Bodwell on double bass.

Past performers include Susan McKeown, Declan O’Rourke, Michael Brunnock, Brendan O’Shea, Mark Geary, Ann Scott, Niall Connolly, Wallis Bird, Anthony Mulcahy, Mundy, The Guggenheim Grotto, Jenna Nichols, Heathers, Gerry Leonard, Eleanor McEvoy, Warren Malone, John Spillane, Eamon O'Tuama, Mick Flannery, Casey Black, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Mark Dignam, Jean Rohe, SJ McArdle, Brandon Wilde, Casey Neill, Penny O'Brien, Fiach Moriarty, and Róisín O
