Irish Arts Center will kick off St. Patrick’s Day weekend with the third annual Irish Arts Center Book Day! Keep an eye out for Book Day volunteers handing out 10,000 works by Irish and Irish American authors, free, at eight subway stops and transportation hubs across all five boroughs. Irish Arts Center Book Day is inspired by a similar event run by Solas Nua in Washington D.C. since 2006.

FREE BOOKS CITYWIDE

Location 1: Washington Heights: Broadway and 168th Street, at the south east corner of Broadway in front of the Columbia University Russ Berrie Medical Pavilion. Near the A, C, 1 Subway lines
Location 2: UWS: 72nd and Broadway outside the 1 train subway station
Location 3: Northeast corner of Havemeyer St. and Broadway at the Marcy Avenue J train station
Location 4: 37th Road “Diversity” Plaza between 74th and 73rd Streets in Jackson Heights. TheRoosevelt Avenue station has an entrance right in the middle of the Plaza for the E, F, M, R and 7 trains.
Location 5: Southeast corner of Roosevelt Avenue and 61st Street at Woodside / 61st Street stop on the 7 train
Location 6: Vernon Blvd – Jackson Avenue 7 train stop near New York Irish Center (from 12pm)
Location 7: Parkchester 6 Subway station, 177th Street, Bronx, NY
Location 8: St. George Terminal Staten Island, 1 Bay Street, Staten Island, NY 10301
On St. Patrick’s Day, Irish Arts Center will set up teams of volunteers at subway locations across all 5 boroughs to hand out books by Irish and Irish American authors to New Yorkers, for free. Help us promote literacy by dropping off your books by Irish and Irish American authors at any of the following locations from now until Tuesday, March 12, 2013:
Glucksman Ireland House New York University
