Accompaniment on Irish Guitar with Dennis Cahill

Saturday, October 22 | 11 AM – 1 PM

Master guitarist Dennis Cahill’s essential accompaniment to Martin Hayes’ fiddle is acknowledged as a major breakthrough for guitar in the Irish tradition. Cahill will conduct a master class demonstrating chord structure and the rhythmic aspect of tunes in the accompaniment of Irish music.

This class is for intermediate to advanced students and not for beginner-level guitarists.

Dennis Cahill has developed a unique approach to playing traditional and neo-traditional Irish music, incorporating the ornaments and subtleties used by the various instruments utilized within the Irish music genre. In the early 90s, Cahill teamed up with traditional fiddle player Martin Hayes. He has performed and recorded with many acclaimed Irish traditional music practitioners and has appeared in concert halls and festivals throughout the USA, Europe, China, and Australia.
