An all-star concert film and documentary featuring performances by the world’s leading traditional Irish musicians, filmed live at the Irish Arts Center.
A sold-out house watched a special sneak preview of this extraordinary and entertaining concert film, which feataures some of the brightest stars of traditional Irish music, led by the legendary Mick Moloney.
The unprecedented gathering of America’s top “trad” musicians, led by renowned musician-folklorist Mick Moloney, is also being broadcast on more than 50 public television stations across the country, including stations in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, New Jersey, Boston, Denver, Dallas, San Francisco, and Honolulu. This unprecedented gathering of America’s top “trad” musicians was filmed by Academy Award winning director Paul Wagner before a packed, live audience in the intimate Donaghy Theattre on April 18, 2007. The Irish Arts Center offers the only New York City opportunity to see the film with an exclusive theatre engagement from March 5 – 15. The film has also begun broadcasting on more than 70 public television stations across the country.
Featuring Mick Moloney, Susan McKeown, John Doyle, Séamus Egan, Eileen Ivers, Karan Casey, Liz Carroll, Joanie Madden, Athena Tergis, Robbie O’Connell, Niall O’Leary, Darrah Carr, Jerry O’Sullivan, Billy McComiskey, Brendan Dolan, Rhys Jones, Tim Collins, Mac Benford, Mike Rafferty and Jo McNamara.
Filmed by Academy Award winning director Paul Wagner before a packed, live audience in our intimate Donaghy Theatre on April 18, 2007, Absolutely Irish will be presented on public television stations across the country this March.
